UK SCWC Team train at M.C.F.C
The UK team went to the famous Carrington training ground on thursday to train with some of the Manchester City Football Club coaches and also meet professional player Nedum Onuoha.

The UK Street Child World Cup team go to Downing Street to meet the British Chancellor of the Exchequer, Alistair Darling, at number 11 Downing Street. The team loved their time down in London and learnt a lot from the experience. One of the team players said, “this was the best day of my life.. I never thought it would be like this when we talked about the team trials before Christmas!”
As the UK team continue in their preparations for South Africa both on and off the field, various UK media sources have started to document and share the teams progression. Some of these have included: CBBC Blue Peter, Sky News, The Sun Newspaper. The London Metro Newspaper, Manchester Evening News, et al.
9 young people from Ardwick, Manchester will be going to Durban, South Africa, to represent the UK in the Street Child World Cup competition. The team will be a mixture of both males and females aged 14-16 years old. All of the team are looking for to the opportunity to this experience outside of Longsight & Ardwick.
There are 5 UK team coaches: Robert Eastwood, Gabriel Oyediwura, Elliott Jacobs, Eric Mondeh, Wayne White. All of these coaches have worked with the M13 Youth Project before and have undergone youth work mentoring training. Sports Development is a an important part of their academic route, and they are coupling this with their experiences of competitive football and coaching.
On the first week of January training starts for the UK Street Child World Cup team… we walk to training together through 4 inches of snow, and the players take breaks along the way to throw snow balls at each other and get to know each other better
In December 2009 the UK Street Child World Cup is picked after going through a trial process that gave young people the opportunity to show a variety of skills, knowledge, and personality that they would bring to the UK team.
In December 2009– trials for the UK Street Child World Cup team begin.
